Consistency: A Leading Attribute To Success
What you do consistently, you eventually become.
— Napoleon Hill
From experience, I will say without fear of contradiction that consistency is a leading attribute of success.
If you keep on keeping on, you will eventually get there. If you show up daily, the forces of nature will come to your aid. If you keep hitting the rock, water will surely gush out.
I have said it before and I will say it again: the path to success requires smart hard work. This type of hard work requires that you do it consistently, not sometimes, not when it’s convenient for you; you engage in this work daily in order to achieve your goals.
Success is what you attract; success is not a title. Real success is what you attract by your consistent behavior. It means you worked on it yesterday, you are working on it today, and you will continue to work on it tomorrow – until you get the results you are looking for.
The attitude of being consistent is not just an attribute of greatness, it is a virtue. If you have it, you are half way to your destination.
You must find a way to merge consistency with your purpose. When you are consistent in doing the things that align with your purpose in life, then success is guaranteed. This is the principle of success. Nothing works on nothing.
Without purpose, you work on nothing. Without action, you achieve nothing. Without consistency, you give up on the way. Keep pushing forward!
As a professional who starts his day early, I know that consistency kills procrastination. When you are consistent in what you do, your drive to get things done will naturally be high. This is how to get rid of procrastination.
Consistency is not innate. It is an attribute you learn. It requires discipline to attain this level of mastery. The good news is that every skill is learnable, so says my mentor Brian Tracy.
Keep doing your best even when no one is clapping. The man on a mission is not driven by applause; his driven by his vision, mission and goals. Keep pushing forward!
The attribute of consistency doesn’t need motivation, it is personal, it is something the individual becomes. Once you train yourself to be consistent, once you train yourself to show up daily; the habit becomes part of you and that’s how to be consistent. This is how I started writing daily motivation and I have done it consistently for 14 years, no holidays!
If you are consistent in what you do, your mind…the powerhouse of your body will send signals to every part that consistency is required by all departments of the body. That’s how to build the consistency muscle.
Inconsistency leads to average or poor results. The man or woman who is consistent is intentional in going the right path.
Periodically step back and ask yourself to know how consistent you are in taking action that brings results. Self-appraisal is important in performance efficiency.
The one who wins is not the one with the best ideas; the one who wins is the one who has mastered how to show up daily – doing the right things at the right time.
Excellence doesn’t come by accident. You must be consistently doing the right things to achieve an excellent result.
Napoleon Hill said, “Consistency is the bridge between who you are, and who you are becoming. Whether you like it or not, you are becoming something.” I totally agree. The question is: are you becoming what you want to be, or what the environment wants? You have the answer. You must create the world you desire.
Here this: being consistent is not cheap. It’s expensive! It will cost you convenience. It will cost you pleasure. It will cost you comfort. But here’s the good news: weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning, so says the scripture. The rewards of being consistent in doing the right things, surpass the discomfort. I am talking from experience.
Success is a reflection of patterns. The one who succeeds is the one who has mastered patterns that lead to success. The one who succeeds is the one who is creatively stubborn in pursuing his goals.
A slow man who is consistent and never quits, will outperform the fast man who quits! Staying longer on the right path will eventually bring the right results.
Let me conclude with this: consistency builds momentum and trust. The more consistent you are, the more your drive to get things done rises. The more you get things done, the more you attract the right people on your side. The right people flock around the right person. Be the best version of you. People buy people!
Move from good to better, then to best.
